飲み帳
nomichō
飲み (nomi) “drinking” + 帳 (chō) “a notebook, a ledger.” A drinking notebook.
Nomicho was built in Japan and launched there first, shaped by how people actually drink in Japan. But the idea is the same wherever you are: a warm, curious record of your own drinking, never a scold to drink less.
Not about cutting down or quitting.
Most drinking-related apps assume you want to cut down or quit. Nomicho is the opposite. It never nudges you to drink less and never scolds — it's a warm place to understand your own drinking, out of curiosity.
See where you are, at a glance.
While you drink, Nomicho tracks your estimated blood alcohol concentration and names the stage you are in — in plain, friendly words.
- sober 0.00–0.02%
- feeling it 0.02–0.05%
- buzzed 0.05–0.10%
- drunk 0.10–0.15%
- past it 0.15–0.20%
When you approach genuinely dangerous levels, it tells you clearly.
Three things at its heart
RECORD
Record
A record you can keep is a record that takes one tap.
- Log the drinks you actually order in one tap — the bar and restaurant staples, with your usuals floating to the top.
- Save your own custom drinks; favorites stay within reach.
- Log meals and snacks, which feed into the BAC modeling.
- Point the camera at a can or bottle barcode — packaged drinks built in, and unknown products are looked up automatically.
PREDICT
Predict
An answer to "where am I right now?"
- Watch your estimated concentration curve and stage shift in real time; drag along the graph to read the estimate at any point.
- Estimates are tuned to you (sex, weight, height, how easily you flush, how often you drink), and errors always lean toward caution.
- A cautious read of roughly when your reading returns to zero: a rough guide only, one that varies a lot from person to person, and never a basis for deciding to drive.
- A five-level hangover forecast that gets closer to you the more next-day check-ins you record, with pure-alcohol grams and calories alongside.
- Connect Apple Health to auto-fill your profile and keep your weight current; bring in sleep data and the hangover forecast sharpens toward you (opt-in, read-only).
- Estimates built on published research; every step and source is laid out on the methodology page.
REFLECT
Reflect
A record is only as good as the looking back.
- Each day leaves a colored thread on the calendar. Tap into any day to revisit it.
- AI sums up the mood of the day in a short card, in Japanese and English; switch it on or off in Settings.
- Eighteen insights that surface when, what, and how you felt — your own patterns, made visible.
- Add photos to any drink or moment during your sessions, only kept on your device, with optional cloud backup on Plus.
- Tag where you drank, then look back on a journey map with per-place insights (opt-in).
- Calories and sugar over time, there for reflection too — switch the display off in Settings anytime.
- Turn the day or your vibe into a cute share card and share it with others.
Why Nomicho
Everything else tells you where you are. Nomicho tells you where you're going.
A chart or a calculator can give you a number for this moment. Neither shows you the rest of the session — or the next day.
| Quick BAC chart | One-off calculator | Breathalyzer | Nomicho | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| A read on right now | Rough — population average | Rough — population average | Precise measurement | Estimated band |
| Where you're headed, 30–90+ min out | No | No | No | Yes |
| A look at the next day | No | No | No | Yes |
| Keeps up as the session unfolds | No | No | Re-blow each time | Per-minute updates |
| Tuned to your body | No | Sometimes | N/A — precise measurement | Yes |
| Works with just your phone | Yes | Yes | Needs a device | Yes |
| Remembers the session, builds your patterns | No | No | No | Yes |
A chart reads off a population average; Nomicho estimates a physiological band tuned to you — still an estimate, not a measurement, and never a basis for deciding whether to drive.
Everyone uses it a little differently.
See which one sounds like you.
Kenji
out with friends
Out with friends, he keeps half an eye on Predict — easing off before he nears his own line, so he heads home in good shape.
Midori
home drinker
A glass of wine at home. Before bed she opens the calendar and takes in the week's rhythm. Her records stay on her phone.
Yuta
flushes easily
Strong or lightweight? He compares Nomicho's estimate — tuned to his sex, weight, and flush response — with how he actually feels, getting a sense of his own pace.
Aya
work parties only
She rarely drinks — but there's the monthly work party. Afterward she checks the next-day hangover forecast to be ready for work. No account needed, so she opens it only when she has to.
Takuya
lemon-sour regular
He'd always wondered about the calories and sugar in his usual lemon sour. Now it's just there when he logs — a glance, only when he's curious.
Mao
loves the memories
A photo of the place, the spots pinned on a map; later she retraces the journey and lingers over the memories.
The small things, done with care.
Shake to re-log
Had another of the same? Shake your phone and it logs again.
Water reminders
Turn them on and Nomicho gently suggests a glass of water along the way. Every notification is optional.
A line you set yourself
You choose the level worth knowing about. Until it nears, the app stays quiet.
Feeling check-ins
Tap how you feel as you go — it makes looking back much richer.

Frequently asked questions
Can it tell how drunk I am right now, in real time?
Log what you drank and Nomicho shows your estimated blood alcohol concentration and a plain-language intoxication stage on the spot — plus whether it is still rising or falling, and where it is headed next.
How accurate is the prediction, and what is it based on?
Estimates use forensic-standard equations driven by your sex, weight, height, and how easily you flush. Error always leans to the safe side — higher, earlier, wider — and the band widens the further your profile sits from the validated data. Every step and primary source is published, with citations, on the methodology page.
Can I track how much I drank, in pure alcohol grams?
The bar and restaurant staples are built in, each one tap to log — down to mug and can sizes — with pure alcohol grams computed automatically. Cans and bottles can be logged by barcode.
Can I use it if I have a low tolerance or flush easily?
Yes. Nomicho takes your flush response as an input and factors it into the prediction. Tolerance is inborn and varies by person; it works whether you drink a lot or a little, as a way to understand your own drinking.
Can it forecast a hangover?
From the night's drinks, sleep, and your flush response, Nomicho estimates next-morning condition on a 1–5 scale, and learns toward you as you log how you actually felt. It is a guide, not a medical diagnosis.
Does it show calories and carbs?
Yes — the approximate calories and carbs of what you logged, as a breakdown and a trend (some of it is Plus).
Can I save photos of my drinks?
Yes. Add a photo of a drink or the room to your record. With Plus, you can optionally back them up to the cloud. It's all opt-in.
Can it record where I drank? (place tags and a journey map)
Yes, opt-in. Turn it on to tag places and look back on a journey map with per-place insights. Location is captured only while the app is open, at a coarse grain, and never used for analytics or ads. Switch it off anytime in Settings.
Can I connect Apple Health?
Yes — opt-in and read-only. Connecting auto-fills your BAC profile and keeps your weight current, and bringing in sleep sharpens the hangover forecast toward you. Your Health data never leaves the device and is never sent to the AI or analytics.
How long does it take for alcohol to clear?
There is no single number that fits everyone; it varies widely with your body, tolerance, and the day. From what you logged, Nomicho gives an estimate tuned to you and a rough guide for roughly when your reading returns to zero (it varies a lot from person to person). To work out the pure-alcohol grams yourself, there is a quick calculator too.
Can it tell me if the alcohol has cleared, or if I can drive?
No. Nomicho shows an estimate, not a measurement. It is computed from sex, weight, flush response and more, with errors leaned toward caution — but never use it to decide whether you can drive, or for any legal or medical judgment.
Is it free?
The core of tracking, predicting, and reflecting is all free. Nomicho Plus (¥280/month) opens the full calendar history, all eighteen insights, and more.
Do I need an account?
No. Everything works without one. Sign in with Apple, Google, or LINE only if you want to sync across devices.
Is this an app for drinking less?
No. Nomicho never pushes you to cut down or quit. It is for understanding your own drinking, out of curiosity.
Who can use it?
Nomicho is for adults 21 and over, in line with the legal drinking age in the United States.
Where is my data stored?
On your device first. Cloud sync is opt-in. You can export everything as JSON or delete it completely, anytime.
